Brecon Women's Festival 5th - 16th March 2014
'Brecon Women's Festival' was started in 2012 to mark the global occasion locally by staging a week of events taking place on and around International Women's Day with the aim of celebrating the creativity, talents and achievements of inspirational women in and around Brecon during the past and the present. This year sees the Festival enter it's third year – no mean feat considering the Festival is purely self-funded and voluntary with all the organisation, staging and marketing of the events being undertaken by a small group of women from the town - Hilda Benham, Paula Keen, Leigh Hendra, Karin Mear, Nicola Bickerton and Sian Drinan.
This year's festival officially launches on Friday March 7th at Theatr Brycheiniog with the launch of this year's Womens Festival Art Exhibition 'Mother Earth' heralding a week of eclectic events with something for everyone – Live Music, Storytelling, Talks, Theatre, and Poetry. The full programme will soon be available but in the meantime stay updated by following the 'Brecon Women's Festival' feed on Twitter and Facebook.
